Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, noted scientist, popularly known as Missile man of India may not be with us today but his teachings, his way of living life and his sincere yet kind personality will inspire everyone for ages to come.
Personally, I have always admired of Dr. Kalam for all he has done for India and how simple he was for his entire life. Born in a small town of Rameswaram Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam has always been very humble and loving to the society. His love for children is known to everyone and so his his ability to deliver very insightful and interesting lectures.
Entire life of Dr. Kalam is an inspiration to everyone around but three of his qualities has always and will always inspire.
1. Simplicity and Humbleness
Missile Man of India, Eleventh President of India, People’s President – there are several names by which Dr. Kalam would be remembered forever. Dr. Kalam has been honoured with Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Bharat Ratna awards. But despite being so famous and having such high stature in political as well as intellectual world, Dr. Kalam was known for his simple and humble attitude. Arun Tiwari even calls writing Dr. Kalam’s autobiography Wings of Fire: An Autobiography as a pilgrimage. It is this humbleness which made him a mentor and role model for thousands or millions across the world.

2. Attitude of Gratitude
Dr. Kalam has always been very thankful to everyone he found on his way. This is evident from the fact that he still remembers the very first people from his childhood like Samsuddin(his cousin having newspaper vending business who helped him earn his first wages) or Jallaluddin (who would motivate Dr. Kalam in his childhood to study and tell him more about science, education and discoveries). It was this attitude and thankfulness that made him leave lasting impressions on people he met.
3. Thinking Differently
Dr. Kalam always treated science as a way to enrich life and self realization. Treating science in this way answers how Dr. Kalam got his unconventional eye to look at science and its phenomenon. Dr. Kalam says, “My message, especially to young people is to have courage to think differently, courage to invent, to travel the unexplored path, courage to discover the impossible and to conquer the problems and succeed. These are great qualities that they must work towards. This is my message to the young people.”
Dr. Kalam has been a visionary and has written great and insightful books like:
